Patreon Prize Draw: Win a Copy of Richard Noakes’s Physics and Psychics: The Occult and the Sciences in Modern Britain (Cambridge University Press, 2019)

It’s time to announce the next prize for you lovely Forbidden Histories supporters. I’m particularly pleased to be able to offer a copy of Richard Noakes’s new book on the history of the occult entanglements of British physics, of which I posted a pre-release notice with table of contents, a short summary and advance praise a while ago.

Few books can be more significant and in line with the scope of Forbidden Histories than Physics and Psychics, as it restores the historical record by reconstructing occult interests and researches by a surprising number of major British physicists. While such interests and investigations have often been written out of history, Richard’s work has significantly contributed to a qualified understanding of why and how prominent champions of ‘naturalistic’ science tackled reported anomalous phenomena often termed ‘supernatural’, in the context of their more conventional science. Physics and Psychics is the culmination of Richard’s work in the history of physics and psychical research, and mandatory reading for everybody interested in the hidden history of modern physical sciences and the occult.

All current patrons of Forbidden Histories will enter the prize draw automatically. If you’re not already a supporter but think FH a worthwhile endeavour and would like to win a copy of Physics and Psychics, simply make a pledge on Patreon by Sunday, 8 December 2019 (10pm GMT) to qualify.

Good luck and many thanks to all of you,

Andreas Sommer
